Vixen (My first ever poem)

She's a modern day vixen
She has long dark hair
With deep brown eyes
Sexy caramel skin
With long thick thighs
To me it's no surprise
That I see right through the guise
She places before one’s eyes
Attempting to mesmerize
A brotha who would otherwise
Be able to avoid the lies
Of public beauty which implies
That there's no compromise
This is the reason she's so fly
So why would I even try
Cause she's a modern day vixen
And she's out on a mission
To become the male affliction
By keeping those hips switchin’
She catches his attention
And then proceeds to diss him
With those eyes that just glisten'
She's the definition of addiction
To any man who would listen
She'll spit her game then flip it
So she can hit it and quit it
Getting what she intended
She'll take your money and spend it
Cause she's a modern day vixen
Beware of her gaze
One look, your hooked
Like chip from lays
Dedicated to the single life
She avoids bouquets
Every man she meets
Is left in a daze
It's a real pleasure to meet her
Enchanté
Don't stand too close
Her fire will blaze
Leave you burnt down to the ground
With your ashes singe-ing in her flames
Cause she’s a modern day vixen
Out of control
She needs to be tazed
So she can calm down
And grow out of this phase
Now this transition wont take days
It'll be more like a maze
A prolific journey would be the better phrase
I would use to describe
The change that will take place inside
When she finally decides
To put such childish things aside
And stop playing with men's feelings
And let her heart decide
To stop feeding her mind these lies
Like she's not lonely inside
And doesnt crave true love to keep her alive
Cause she's a modern day vixen
Dont fall for her tricks and
Someday you'll see
That true love is all she really needs

Determination

What establishes determination
Does it begin with dedication
And conclude in compensation
For the work done in alteration
Of mind, body, and soul?
Pushing the limits
Until you reach that final goal
Exuding excellence regardless of what youre told
Yea...I guess that's determination
Determination is when a father works two jobs to take care of his son
Instead of robbing liquor stores and banks with a gun
A father that proves to all that he's a real man
Not because he needs to, but because he can
Nah scratch that, because he must
Otherwise his son will run the streets until he's laid to rest as ashes and dust
The gates of his mind can't be allowed to rust
Lest he learn a new affiliation with the streets, one called lust
Yea, Id call that determination
Determination is when an immigrant comes to this country to be all she can be
Working 1 job, 2 jobs, hell even 3
Because she knows that even though she cant read
She's providing a better life for her daughter, her child, her seed
So that seed may be allowed to blossom into a majestic tree
A tree not bounded by roots
But one that's meant to be free
Free of destitution, prostitution, and poverty
So she can live an enriched life like you and me
Thats real determination
Determination is found in the roots of this nation
It is found in the relationships between the caucasian, blacks, hispanics, and asians
The racism once placed there is now less blatant
Now by no means is it perfect but we must exercise patience
I know alot of others are doing nothing but siting and waitin'
Collecting their ideas and ideals like water in a basin
But when they choose to take control of their own fate and
Decide to invoke their own determination
Maybe just maybe we can create a utopian nation
But this is all dependent on that one beautiful human ideal
Determination.

My Life (In Three Aspects)

I
I heard a wise man say life is just a journey
And mine leads me down a road that makes me an attorney
But I fear I’ll never get there cuz my school is trying to burn me
Take away my grant money and end my future journey
See Ive settled in my school and found my own friends
And I’d hate to leave now just to start it all again
See Ive never been the type to be able to just blend
In with any crowd I always stand out from the trend
So hopefully I’ll find a way to get these bills paid
Graduate in two years and then I’ll be able to trade
The east coast for the golden state with a personal maid
II
They say nice guys finish last, ain’t that the truth
All the girls end up with the smooth talking, uncouth,
Poor excuse for a man perpetually stuck in his youth
If that’s what you want, then congratulations to you
You now have the kids of a man who can’t divide by two’s
You should treat yourself right, go out with a nice guy
Mr. Treat-You-Right guy, We-ain’t-gotta-fight guy
I’ll-take-you-out-and-not-
just-in-the-middle-of-the-night guy
Cuz once you date a nice guy, you’ll see that he’s the right guy
III
My sport is your sport’s punishment
Why do I feel like Im the one being punished then?
At the meets I feel like a child among the men
Fighting every second trying to defend
The honor of the school written on my chest
V-I-L-L-A-N-O-V-A with the wildcat crest
It’s apparent it’s all just a business
A coach is your best friend when you make that visit
But the second you’re hurt you gradually get dismissed it
Seems you become old news
Hanging in the back of the line paired in two’s
Seems like you’ll never make head line news
Even though, your body gets constantly abused
The coach always instills “It is not an option to LOSE”
So I run faster and jump harder than I ever have
Get a personal best smile then laugh
But look over at coach and see no smile
He says You didn’t win the meet, turn down that dial
And tomorrow I’ll have to run an extra mile

Speechless

I need to find a girl that leaves me Speechless
A mere glance upon her figure ignites the flames of my soul
Causing my vocal chords to twist up in a spiral
I try to open my mouth but I swallow my words
Such beauty belonging to one girl seems absurd
But I would thank God everyday if I can glance upon her face
Because when I do my heart naturally quickens its pace
“This” becomes “That” and “One” becomes “Eight”
Trying to un-jumble the words before it’s too late
Her beauty, incomparable there’s no other like her
I wish I could keep her to myself…be her miser
I try to speak melodically to tell her my name
But I only swallow my words and thus I remain
the same speechless brother who admires from afar
Girl if you are out there please let me know who you are

I need to find a girl that leaves me breathless
I find myself gasping at the mere thought of her voice
It sends chills down my spine and still I rejoice
My lungs collapse like two deflated balloons
The air escapes me like blood from a wound
But I’m not dead I’m in a heavenly embrace
Her soothing soprano reminds me of her grace
I’m on cloud nine even when I think of her smile
I’m flying and I know I won’t come down for miles
She gives me that naturally high when I think of her
She knows what she does to me, I can’t escape her
Magical spell over me so I’ll wait till she can see
That my heart belongs to her like honey to a bee
Yea its kind of corny but that’s what she does to me
Have me sitting in my room writing poetry
